Maybe your daughter knows the steps by heart and still cannot cross the line from knowing to doing. Maybe you are the capable adult who keeps wondering why ordinary tasks feel so much harder for you than for everyone around you. Our Executive Function Evaluations in DeForest, WI look closely at why starting and staying organized break down, and there is no referral to arrange first.
Every one of our evaluations sets out from a baseline of cognitive and executive function and then centers on the specific concern in front of us, with one licensed psychologist present through the entire process. We assess children, teens, and adults, and because executive function difficulties tend to travel with other conditions, we screen for ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences along the way.
A child may carry out only the first piece of a multi part instruction, forget the finished assignment is already packed, or fall apart when plans change on short notice. Both getting going and finishing up feel overwhelming, and a small task can somehow swallow the whole afternoon.
In a teen, watch for procrastination that runs right up to the deadline, due dates that slip by unnoticed, and a backpack and digital life that stay perpetually jumbled. Their capability is plain to see, and still the results keep coming in under it, especially when demands stack up together.
An adult can feel forever a beat behind: appointments forgotten, priorities that never settle, and a growing collection of projects started but rarely finished. Everyday obligations take more out of you than they appear to take from others, and running to keep even slowly wears you thin.
Your evaluation opens with a conversation of about an hour, where your psychologist assembles the full background, from developmental and academic history to the cognitive concerns you are dealing with today. That discussion clarifies why we are testing and helps us decide which assessments will be most revealing.
Next, your psychologist designs a battery around your specific needs, ordinarily 2 to 6 hours of in person testing across one to two days. Depending on the referral question, we may weave in measures of processing speed, memory, or adaptive skills, and questionnaires travel home to fill out the context.
We gather all the testing data, our observations, and the questionnaire results into a detailed report spanning cognitive strengths, executive function patterns, and any concerns that came up. If ADHD, anxiety, or a learning difference emerges during the evaluation, we set those findings down clearly as well.
Roughly two to three weeks afterward, you return for a feedback session and your psychologist explains the results in plain, everyday terms. You leave with individualized recommendations, whether educational supports, workplace accommodations, or strategies rooted in the strengths the testing revealed.
You do not. A referral is never a requirement at Core Spring Diagnostics. Reach out to us directly, for any reason at all, and we will coordinate with your other providers only if you ask.
They share a lot of ground. Since executive function lies at the center of ADHD, we study attention, planning, working memory, and self regulation in depth, and we screen for ADHD alongside the anxiety and learning differences that can resemble it.
It examines the underlying skills behind planning, initiating, organizing, remembering, and following through, set against a baseline of cognitive and executive function, and then joins those findings to what you experience in daily life.
Yes, they can. We evaluate children, teens, and adults, and many adults find their way to us after a lifetime of compensating, usually once the demands of work or family finally outstrip their workarounds.
You will have a plain language report and a feedback session filled with practical, individualized recommendations: structures, tools, accommodations where they fit, and clear next steps.
Call our Madison office at (608) 396 4830 and we will find a time for you. Because no referral is needed in advance, you can reach out the moment you decide you are ready.
