Evaluation Process
Every child autism evaluation begins with a one hour clinical interview with the parent or caregiver. Your psychologist gathers a complete developmental history, from early milestones through current behavior at home and school. This conversation helps determine which autism specific assessments will provide the clearest diagnostic picture for your child.
Your psychologist selects a personalized testing battery tailored to your child's age and presentation. Testing involves 2 to 6 hours of in person evaluation over one to two days. Parents and teachers are also sent questionnaires to capture behavioral and social patterns across different settings. Since many children with autism also present with ADHD or executive function differences, screeners for those areas are included as standard.
All testing data, clinical observations, and questionnaire input are compiled into a detailed diagnostic report. If any co occurring conditions surface during the evaluation (ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing differences, or other concerns), they are documented and addressed so families leave with a complete clinical picture.
Approximately two to three weeks after testing, you return for a feedback session. This is where you receive your diagnosis along with individualized recommendations: practical strategies for home, school, or work, resources for therapy or coaching, medication guidance if applicable, and next steps tailored to your specific needs.

Do I need a referral for an autism evaluation?
No. You never need a referral to be seen at Core Spring Diagnostics. You can reach out directly, for any reason, and we coordinate with your child’s school or other providers only if you want us to.
How quickly can my child be seen and get results?
We know how important timely answers are. Most clients are scheduled for their initial session within a week or even sooner. After testing is complete, your report and in person feedback session are typically delivered within one to two weeks. While many clinics take months to schedule an appointment and return results, we make it a priority to give you fast answers without sacrificing quality.
What does the evaluation process look like?
We’ve designed our process to be smooth, supportive, and thorough from start to finish.
Initial Phone Consultation: This free call helps us understand your needs and determine whether testing is the right step. There is no pressure and no obligation.
Testing Appointment: You’ll be scheduled quickly for in-person testing using gold-standard tools such as the ADOS-2.
Do you evaluate both children and adults for autism?
Yes. We specialize in testing for both Adults and Children. Our licensed psychologists tailor each evaluation based on:

- Presenting Concerns
- Context, such as school, work, or clinical needs
An evaluation for a six-year-old will naturally look different from that of a thirty-six-year-old. We are fully equipped to support both.
Will I receive a written report I can actually use?
Absolutely. You’ll receive a detailed written report that explains the results in everyday language, without medical jargon. It will include any diagnoses (if applicable), along with clear, practical recommendations. We’ll review everything with you during your feedback session to ensure you feel fully informed and supported.
Will the testing feel stressful for my child?
We understand that “testing” can sound intimidating, but our sessions are designed to be relaxed and supportive. For kids, we use play-based and interactive tools. For teens and adults, we ensure the experience feels respectful and collaborative, creating a space that’s never clinical or cold.
Can the report help with school supports?
Yes! Our evaluations often play a key role in helping families request appropriate school supports. The written report you receive can be shared with your child’s school to help advocate for services like IEPs or 504 Plans. We aim to make the process as helpful and empowering as possible.
Who will be conducting my child's evaluation?
Our team is led by doctoral level licensed psychologists with deep experience across clinical, hospital, educational, and community settings and a passion for helping individuals and families move forward. What will the report actually give us?

How is the evaluation actually carried out?
We begin with an in depth consultation, followed by standardized testing, observation, and interviews. The full process is designed to be comfortable and supportive.
Typically, evaluations occur over 1 to 2 sessions, with the full process (including the report and feedback session) completed in 2 to 3 weeks.
Do you offer late diagnosis for adults?
Yes! Many adults come to us for a late in life diagnosis. Our approach is respectful, affirming, and age-appropriate.
Are your reports accepted for school and accommodations?
Yes. Our reports are school and legally ready, and can support IEPs, 504 Plans, or disability accommodations.
Do we need previous records or a prior diagnosis?
Yes. While previous records can help, they aren’t required. We gather comprehensive background information during your intake to ensure a full, informed evaluation.
