Evaluation Process
Your evaluation begins with a one hour clinical interview where your psychologist gathers a detailed history of reading and language development, from early literacy milestones through current challenges. This conversation helps determine which dyslexia specific assessments will provide the most accurate diagnosis.
Your psychologist coordinates a personalized testing battery that pairs broad cognitive and executive function assessments with targeted reading and phonological processing evaluations conducted by an in house learning disability specialist. Testing involves 2 to 6 hours of in person evaluation over one to two days. This combined approach evaluates both underlying cognitive patterns and specific reading skill breakdowns. Questionnaires are also sent to you and to teachers or others closely involved in your learning environment.
All testing data from both the psychologist and the learning disability specialist are compiled into a detailed diagnostic report. This includes cognitive abilities, phonological processing, reading fluency, comprehension, and any co occurring conditions identified during the evaluation (such as ADHD or other learning differences).
Approximately two to three weeks after testing, you return for a feedback session. Your psychologist walks through the diagnosis and provides individualized recommendations: reading intervention strategies, academic accommodations, assistive technology options, and next steps tailored to your specific needs.

Do I need a referral for a dyslexia evaluation?
No. You never need a referral to be seen at Core Spring Diagnostics. You can reach out directly, for any reason, and we coordinate with your school only if you want us to.

No. Dyslexia is unrelated to intelligence. Many individuals with dyslexia have average or above average cognitive abilities.
At what age can dyslexia be evaluated?
Dyslexia can often be identified in early elementary school, though evaluation can be appropriate at any age if symptoms are present.
How long does dyslexia testing take?
