FAQs
Got Questions? We’re Here to Answer
What is the difference between a psychological and a neuropsychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation looks at emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, or ADHD. A neuropsychological evaluation, on the other hand, digs deeper into brain-based functions like memory, attention, learning, and problem-solving. At Core Springs Diagnostics, we’ll help you determine which type of evaluation best fits your needs during the initial consultation.
How long does an evaluation take?
The full evaluation process usually spans a few appointments. Testing sessions may take 2 to 6 hours total, depending on age and the type of evaluation. We take our time to create a comfortable pace and ensure you or your child feel supported. After testing, we carefully prepare a comprehensive report before your feedback session.
Do you offer evaluations for both children and adults?
Yes, we do! Whether it’s a toddler who’s not hitting developmental milestones, a teen struggling in school, or an adult exploring a possible late autism or ADHD diagnosis, we’re here to help. Every stage of life matters, and we tailor our evaluations accordingly.
Will I receive a written report and diagnosis?
Absolutely. You’ll receive a detailed written report that explains the results in everyday language, without medical jargon. It will include any diagnoses (if applicable), along with clear, practical recommendations. We’ll review everything with you during your feedback session to ensure you feel fully informed and supported.
Can evaluations be used for school accommodations like IEPs or 504 Plans?
Yes! Our evaluations often play a key role in helping families request appropriate school supports. The written report you receive can be shared with your child’s school to help advocate for services like IEPs or 504 Plans. We aim to make the process as helpful and empowering as possible.
Will the evaluation feel like a test?
We understand that “testing” can sound intimidating, but our sessions are designed to be relaxed and supportive. For kids, we use play-based and interactive tools. For teens and adults, we ensure the experience feels respectful and collaborative, creating a space that’s never clinical or cold.
What are the signs that my child may need an autism assessment?
If your child avoids eye contact, has delayed speech, shows repetitive behaviors, or struggles socially, an autism evaluation can help clarify what’s going on. Early identification leads to better support, so trust your instincts and reach out.
