Maybe your child understands the assignment perfectly and still cannot find a way in, or loses the very homework that was already done. Maybe you are the adult who looks organized to everyone else while quietly falling behind on the things that matter. Our Executive Function Evaluations in McFarland, WI dig into why planning and follow through keep breaking down, and no referral is needed to start.
We begin every evaluation with a baseline of cognitive and executive function, then shape the rest around the concern you came in with, guided the whole way by one licensed psychologist. Our doors are open to children, teens, and adults, and because executive function struggles seldom stand alone, we look underneath them for ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences.
A child might finish only the opening step of a longer direction, forget that the completed worksheet is tucked in the folder, or unravel when the schedule changes without warning. Starting and finishing both loom large, and a quick assignment can somehow eat an entire evening.
With a teen you tend to see procrastination stretched to the wire, deadlines that quietly disappear, and belongings and files scattered in every direction. The talent is obvious to everyone, yet the output keeps trailing behind it, particularly when several responsibilities pull at once.
An adult may live with a low hum of being behind: skipped appointments, priorities that refuse to line up, and far more projects opened than closed. Routine life asks for more effort than it seems to demand of others, and the constant scramble to stay even leaves you worn down.
Things start with an interview of about an hour, during which your psychologist collects the whole background, from developmental and academic milestones to the concerns weighing on you now. This talk defines what the testing is meant to answer and guides the choice of measures.
Your psychologist then puts together a battery matched to your circumstances, usually 2 to 6 hours of in person testing over one to two days. As the question requires, we may include measures of processing speed, memory, or adaptive skills, with questionnaires sent home to add further context.
The testing data, our clinical observations, and the questionnaire results all come together in a detailed report on cognitive strengths, executive function patterns, and any areas of concern. If ADHD, anxiety, or a learning difference shows itself in the process, that too is written up plainly.
Somewhere around two to three weeks later, you return for feedback and your psychologist talks you through the findings in ordinary language. You leave holding individualized recommendations, from educational and workplace supports to strategies that make the most of your particular strengths.
Not at all. Core Spring Diagnostics never asks for a referral. You are free to reach out to us directly, for any reason, and we will connect with your other providers only if that is what you want.
There is heavy overlap between them. Because executive function drives so much of ADHD, we examine attention, planning, working memory, and self regulation carefully, and we screen for ADHD as well as the anxiety and learning differences that can present in similar ways.
It gauges the core skills you use to plan, start, organize, remember, and follow through, all measured on a baseline of cognitive and executive function, and then it ties those results to the challenges you meet day to day.
Absolutely. We work with children, teens, and adults, and a good number of our adult clients come to us after years of compensating, often once the pressures of work or home finally overwhelm their usual workarounds.
A report in plain language and a feedback session rich with practical, individualized recommendations: supports, tools, accommodations where useful, and clearly defined next steps.
