The starting point of every evaluation is a baseline of cognitive, adaptive, and executive functioning, which then gives way to the concerns unique to you. One licensed psychologist manages the case throughout, relying on gold standard instruments such as the ADOS-2 and building in screening for the conditions that so often accompany autism, ADHD and anxiety among them.
In young children, common signs are speech that was slow to arrive or has faded in and out, brief eye contact, repetitive movements like hand flapping, and lining toys up rather than playing imaginatively. A break in routine may prompt a strong reaction, and comfort usually lives in whatever stays reliably the same.
For teenagers, look for the fatigue of constantly interpreting social signals, sensory overwhelm in loud or crowded spaces, and an insistence on familiar routines. Interests can be narrow and absorbing, and as the effort to belong grows heavier, some teens gradually pull back from their peers.
Adults often come to this after a lifetime of masking that drains them even after enjoyable company, alongside sensory sensitivities and a long sense of being a little different. For women and people assigned female at birth, this recognition is especially likely to come late, after being overlooked or misdiagnosed for years.
Your evaluation starts with close to an hour of open conversation, during which your psychologist assembles a detailed personal history in a setting made to feel safe and unrushed. Because complex PTSD usually arises from experiences that persisted or recurred, this talk spans a longer arc of your life to understand how it has shaped your emotions, your relationships, and the way you see yourself. The pace belongs to you.
Your psychologist then builds a personalized assessment battery designed to capture the many layers of complex trauma, typically 2 to 6 hours of in person testing over one or two days. You will bring home self report questionnaires, and someone close to you may complete their own if they choose. If markers of other conditions emerge, such as anxiety, depression, dissociation, or ADHD, those areas are screened as well.
The testing data, clinical observations, and questionnaire responses are all consolidated into one detailed diagnostic report. Your psychologist weighs how complex trauma has affected your emotional regulation, identity, relationships, and thinking, and sets down any co occurring conditions so the clinical picture stays complete.
Some two to three weeks after testing, you head back in for your feedback session. Your psychologist reviews the diagnosis in clear terms and offers individualized recommendations, from specialized trauma therapy and emotional regulation strategies to relationship support, each chosen to fit your own process of healing.
You do not. A referral is never a requirement at Core Spring Diagnostics. You can schedule on your own initiative, and we will communicate with your pediatrician or another provider strictly when you ask us to.

Adults are very much included. Evaluation can start in toddlerhood, as early as 18 to 24 months, and continue through the teen years and well into adulthood; the right time depends on your concerns, not your age.
It is paced to the individual. A clinical interview comes first, then one or more testing sessions suited to your needs, then a report and feedback session. We do not assign a fixed number of appointments to anyone.
