Maybe your daughter taught herself to read at four but melts down over a page of math, or you are the adult who has always sensed a reason some things come easy and others never click. IQ & Cognitive Function Testing in Brookfield, WI is how you move from guessing to knowing, mapping how a mind actually works instead of settling for a label. No referral is needed to begin.
Every evaluation starts from a shared foundation: a careful look at reasoning, processing speed, working memory, and executive function, so we understand how the whole system runs before we zoom in. From there the testing is shaped around your specific question, whether that is giftedness, an uneven report card, or your own lifelong pattern of strengths and gaps. One licensed psychologist stays with you the entire way, from the first phone call to the final conversation, and watches for anything else that quietly shows up, such as attention or learning differences, so nothing important slips past.
You may notice your child hitting some milestones early while lagging in others, losing themselves in one narrow interest for hours, or growing bored in a class that moves too slowly. The questions can be years ahead of their age while simple tasks stall, and the gap between clear ability and what shows up on paper keeps widening.
The grades may not match the mind. You see flashes of real ability, sharp insights and quick connections, next to inconsistent marks and a sense of coasting below the ceiling. With decisions about acceleration or advanced courses on the table, you want a clearer read on strengths before anyone commits.
Maybe you have spent years wondering why certain things click instantly and others take twice as long. You might want language for a lifelong pattern, or documentation of your strengths and needs for a degree program or a job. Whatever brought you here, you want to understand your own profile with real precision.
We begin with about an hour of conversation where your psychologist builds a full background, from early development and school history to the concerns that brought you in now. This is where we pin down what testing is actually for, whether that is identifying giftedness, establishing a baseline, or planning around an academic decision, and decide which measures will tell us the most.
Your psychologist assembles a battery built for your question, not a one size template. In person testing typically runs 2 to 6 hours across one or two days, and depending on what we are exploring, we may add measures of executive function, processing speed, or memory. Questionnaires go home with you to fill in the fuller context.
Every score, observation, and questionnaire is pulled together into a detailed report covering intellectual ability, cognitive strengths, and the patterns underneath the numbers. If anything additional emerged during testing, like signs of ADHD or a learning difference, it is documented clearly rather than left as a loose end.
Typically two to three weeks later, you come back for a feedback session where your psychologist walks you through what it all means in plain terms. You leave with individualized recommendations, from educational planning and accommodation guidance to strategies that lean on your strengths and practical next steps toward your goals.
No. You never need a referral to be seen at Core Spring Diagnostics. You are welcome to contact us directly, for any reason, and we will take it from there.
People come to us to answer a giftedness question, to plan around school, to make sense of strengths that do not match performance, to support an accommodation request, or simply to see clearly how a child or adult thinks and learns.
No. We look at intellectual ability alongside processing speed, working memory, executive function, and other patterns, then explain what the whole profile actually means in real life, with recommendations you can use.
Adults are very welcome. We evaluate children, teens, and adults, and many of our adult clients come in to understand their own profile or to document their strengths and needs for a school or workplace.
A clear, plain-language report and a sit-down feedback session that turns the results into concrete educational and practical guidance shaped around your goals, not a stack of numbers to decode on your own.
Call us at (414) 387-2100 and we will find a time that works. We can talk through your concerns first so you know what to expect before anything is scheduled.
