Perhaps your teen is plainly bright yet somehow always a day behind, or perhaps you are the adult who keeps starting things and finishing almost none of them. An Executive Function Evaluation in Lake Geneva, WI gets underneath the frustration to explain why planning and follow through keep faltering. You do not need a referral to reach out.
We begin every evaluation from a baseline of cognitive and executive function, then tailor the rest around the particular struggle that brought you here. One licensed psychologist guides the entire process, so nothing gets handed off partway through. And because these difficulties rarely travel alone, we screen for ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences that so often sit just beneath them.
In children this can show up as forgetting instructions almost as soon as they are given, misplacing belongings on a daily basis, and coming apart when a routine shifts unexpectedly. Homework that should take twenty minutes somehow swallows the whole evening.
With teens you often see deadlines quietly missed, backpacks and files in disarray, and clear talent that never quite lands in the gradebook. Juggling several competing responsibilities at once tends to be where things unravel most.
Adults may find themselves perpetually disorganized, unsure what to tackle first, and prone to missing the appointments that matter. There is often a tiring feeling of doing far more work than others just to keep the basics of daily life on track.
Your evaluation starts with about an hour of talking through your story with your psychologist, covering everything from developmental and academic history to the concerns you are facing today. Together you clarify what the testing needs to answer and which tools will be most revealing.
From there, your psychologist assembles a battery matched to your specific questions, generally 2 to 6 hours of in person testing across one or two days. Additional measures of memory, attention, or processing speed may join in, and take home questionnaires round out the context.
All of the data, the clinical observations, and the questionnaire responses come together in a comprehensive report that spells out cognitive strengths, processing patterns, and any concerns. When something like ADHD, anxiety, or a learning difference appears, it is captured in writing as well.
Roughly two to three weeks after testing, you return to go over the findings together. Your psychologist explains the results in plain language and hands you individualized recommendations, from targeted strategies to accommodations, all aimed at your goals.
Not at all. You never require a referral to come to Core Spring Diagnostics. Feel free to contact us directly, whatever your reason, and we will loop in your other providers only when you specifically ask us to.
There is heavy overlap between them. Since executive function is so central to ADHD, the evaluation takes a careful look at attention, planning, working memory, and self regulation, and it screens for ADHD as well as the anxiety and learning differences that can resemble it.
It assesses the core skills you rely on to plan, begin, organize, hold information in mind, and follow through, anchored to a baseline of cognitive and executive function, and then links those findings to what you are experiencing every day.
Absolutely. Our evaluations are for children, teens, and adults alike. Many adults reach out after years of getting by on workarounds, typically once the pressures of work or family finally outpace them.
You will have a report in everyday language and a feedback session offering concrete, individualized recommendations: the tools, structures, possible accommodations, and next steps that suit the way you actually think.
