Maybe you have been told it is depression, then anxiety, then something else, and each explanation only ever covered part of what you live. You deserve one accurate picture instead of a stack of half answers. Our Bipolar Disorder Evaluations in Oshkosh, WI are built to find that clarity, and you do not need a referral to get started.
We begin every evaluation with a cognitive and executive function baseline, then bring in mood measures and a detailed history of how your energy and mood have moved over the years. A single licensed psychologist runs the whole thing and screens carefully for the depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma that bipolar is so often mistaken for.
With children, mood patterns get evaluated slowly and with real caution, since a lot of very different conditions look identical at a young age. Our aim is a complete understanding across time, not a fast label that may not survive a second look.
For teens, the signals are separate windows of elevated or irritable, high energy mood dropping into flat, depressed stretches, plus noticeable shifts in sleep, more impulsive decisions, and mood swings that clearly exceed normal adolescence.
For adults, it often shows up as periods of expansive or irritable energy trading off with genuine depression, with sleep, activity, and judgment all shifting, and a personal history that never lined up neatly behind one diagnosis.
The evaluation opens with a one hour clinical interview in which your psychologist assembles a full history of your mood, energy, and behavior from your earliest years to today. That timeline is essential for catching the cyclical rhythm that sets bipolar disorder apart, and it guides which assessments come next.
Next, your psychologist chooses a battery of mood and psychological measures tailored to you, usually 2 to 6 hours of in-person work across one to two days. Questionnaires go home with you, and a spouse, parent, or friend can complete their own to describe your mood over time. ADHD, anxiety, or depression are screened for if they appear.
Every piece, the test data, the clinical observations, the questionnaires, is drawn together into one thorough diagnostic report. Because differential diagnosis is so pivotal with bipolar disorder, your psychologist examines mood patterns, episode history, and how symptoms present, and documents any co occurring conditions completely.
About two to three weeks out, you come back for a feedback session. Your psychologist explains the diagnosis plainly and offers individualized recommendations, from treatment planning and evidence based therapy options to medication considerations, lifestyle management, and next steps fitted to your life.
Not at all. Core Spring Diagnostics never requires a referral. You are welcome to reach out to us directly, for whatever reason brings you in.
You can expect an in-depth clinical interview and history, a cognitive and executive function baseline, mood-focused measures, and thorough screening for look-alike conditions, all led by one psychologist.
Bipolar patterns overlap heavily with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma, and effective support depends on telling them apart. A careful, detailed history is what allows that distinction to be made.
We do. Teens and adults are both evaluated here, and for younger clients we take a cautious approach to mood patterns, because many conditions look similar in earlier years.
A report written in plain language and a feedback session that hands you individualized recommendations and a clear direction toward the support that suits you.
