Autism shows up in a hundred different ways, in a toddler who is not pointing yet and in an adult who has spent decades adapting. Core Spring's Mequon evaluations are built to give you real answers across that whole range, for children, teens, and adults, with one psychologist owning every step. You can reach out on your own, no referral needed.
We provide autism evaluations for children, teens, and adults across the Mequon area. Each one opens with a clinical interview to understand the full story, then moves into testing over one or more days, with questionnaires for the people who know you or your child best. Your report is ready in about two to three weeks, followed by a feedback session. Autism looks different in every person, and the traits range widely in type and intensity. Because they often overlap with other things, we screen for companions like ADHD and anxiety as standard. One psychologist owns the process start to finish, using gold-standard tools like the ADOS-2, with no handoffs and no rigid timeline.
Children may show delays in speech, limited eye contact, repetitive behaviors like hand flapping, picky eating, the same outfit every day, or strong sensitivities to sounds, textures, and routines. Parents often call about big reactions to small changes as well.
Teens may experience social isolation, difficulty reading nonverbal cues, sensory overwhelm in school environments, highly focused interests, rigid routines, or executive function struggles. They may also feel overwhelmed by transitions, change, or academic demands.
Adults may notice years of masking, childhood quirks only now recognized as possible autism, sensory sensitivities, or a strong preference for routine. An evaluation finally provides the tools, clarity and individualized recommendations to act on.
Your evaluation begins with a one-hour clinical interview where your psychologist gathers a complete personal history, from childhood experiences through your current daily life. Many adults and children seeking an autism evaluation have spent years wondering why certain things feel harder or different for them, and this conversation creates the foundation for identifying which assessments will be most revealing.
Based on your clinical interview, your psychologist selects a personalized battery of autism-specific assessments. Testing involves 2 to 6 hours of in-person evaluation over one to two days. You may also be sent home with self-report questionnaires, and if you choose, someone close to you (a partner, parent, or close friend) can complete their own questionnaire to provide additional perspective. Screeners for ADHD and executive function are included as standard, since these commonly co-occur with autism.
Your psychologist compiles all testing data, clinical observations, and questionnaire results into a detailed diagnostic report. Any co-occurring conditions identified during the evaluation (ADHD, anxiety, depression, or other concerns) are fully documented so you leave with a complete understanding of your neurodivergent profile.
Approximately two to three weeks after testing, you return for a feedback session. Your psychologist walks through the diagnosis and provides individualized recommendations: practical strategies for work and daily life, therapy or coaching resources, workplace accommodations guidance, and next steps tailored to your specific situation.
Useful questions include: who conducts the evaluation, what tools are used, whether comorbidity screening is included, what the report covers, and whether a feedback session is part of the process. At Core Spring Diagnostics, one psychologist manages every step, gold-standard tools like the ADOS-2 are included, and every evaluation ends with a comprehensive report and a dedicated feedback session.
Gifted children can have autism traits that are masked by strong academic performance. The evaluation process at Core Spring Diagnostics includes a cognitive and executive function baseline that captures strengths alongside areas of difficulty. The psychologist looks beyond grades and test scores to assess social communication, sensory patterns, and behavioral flexibility.
Yes. If concerns extend beyond autism into areas like learning, memory, attention, or emotional functioning, Core Spring Diagnostics can expand the assessment into a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation. This captures the full picture in one process, with one psychologist managing the entire case.
Milestones that may prompt an evaluation include delayed speech or language development, limited eye contact, difficulty with social reciprocity, repetitive behaviors, strong attachment to routines, sensory sensitivities, and limited pretend play. If you are observing several of these patterns, an evaluation can clarify whether autism is present.
Sensory sensitivities, such as strong reactions to sounds, textures, lights, or crowds, are assessed through caregiver questionnaires, self-report measures, and clinical observation. The psychologist integrates sensory findings into the overall picture and includes sensory-specific recommendations in the report when relevant.
After receiving a diagnosis, the evaluation report provides a roadmap of individualized recommendations. These may include therapy referrals (ABA, OT, speech), school accommodations, home strategies, and community resources. The feedback session with the psychologist is the starting point for turning findings into action.
