Your evaluation begins with a one-hour clinical interview where your psychologist gathers a thorough background, from childhood through your day-to-day life today. This conversation helps identify the specific patterns, challenges, and history that inform which ADHD-specific assessments will be most effective for your situation.
Based on your clinical interview, your psychologist selects a personalized battery of ADHD-focused assessments. Testing involves 2 to 6 hours of in-person evaluation over one to two days. You will also be sent home with questionnaires, and individuals closely involved in your life (parents, teachers, or partners) can receive their own questionnaires to provide additional perspective on attention, focus, and executive function patterns.
Your psychologist compiles all testing data, clinical observations, and questionnaire results into a detailed diagnostic report. If anything else surfaces during the evaluation (such as anxiety, depression, or other co-occurring conditions), those findings are included so nothing gets overlooked.
Approximately two to three weeks after testing, you return for a feedback session. This is where you receive your diagnosis along with individualized recommendations: practical strategies for home, school, or work, resources for therapy or coaching, medication guidance if applicable, and next steps tailored to your specific needs.
Adults with ADHD often report chronic difficulty with time management, organization, follow-through on projects, restlessness, impulsive decision-making, and trouble sustaining attention in meetings or conversations. Many adults were not identified as children and have developed coping strategies that mask the underlying patterns.
Every evaluation includes comorbidity screening for anxiety, depression, learning differences, and other conditions that can mimic or co-occur with ADHD. The cognitive and executive function baseline helps the psychologist determine whether attention difficulties are driven by ADHD, another condition, or both.
