Maybe the day fills up and somehow nothing on the list gets done, or your child unravels every time the plan shifts and the clock keeps winning. When time, planning, and transitions consistently get the better of things, an Executive Function Evaluation in Cross Plains, WI can help make sense of it. No referral is needed to get started.
Every evaluation is built on a baseline of cognitive and executive function, the systems that govern planning, time, and follow through, and then it zeroes in on the specific concern you bring. A single licensed psychologist stays with you throughout, and because struggles with time and organization often run together with ADHD, anxiety, or a learning difference, we make a point of screening for those rather than stopping at what is visible on the surface.
A child may struggle to follow directions that have several parts, forget things moments after hearing them, and fall apart when the schedule changes unexpectedly. Belongings disappear regularly, and getting started on or finishing a task can feel like an uphill climb.
For teens it often looks like putting things off until the last second, deadlines that come and go unmet, and a backpack and hard drive lost to disorder. Their intelligence is plain to see, yet performance keeps lagging, and balancing competing obligations is where the trouble concentrates.
Adults tend to describe a schedule that slips through their fingers, a habit of starting more than they finish, and appointments that get overlooked despite good intentions. Sorting out what to tackle first feels murky, and the effort of simply keeping up can be quietly draining.
Your evaluation starts with an in depth clinical interview where your psychologist gathers the full story, from developmental and school history to the executive function concerns you are facing today. This conversation sharpens the purpose of testing and guides which assessments will be most useful.
Next, your psychologist puts together a battery matched to your needs, typically 2 to 6 hours of in person testing across one to two days. Depending on the questions at hand, measures of processing speed, memory, or attention may be added, and questionnaires go home to supply further context.
All of the results, the scores, the observations gathered during testing, and the questionnaire responses, are woven into a detailed report covering your strengths, your processing patterns, and any areas of concern. If ADHD, anxiety, or a learning difference comes to light along the way, that is documented too.
About two to three weeks after testing, you return for a feedback session in which your psychologist talks through the findings in everyday language and offers individualized recommendations, from planning and workplace strategies to accommodations and next steps aligned with your goals.
You do not. A referral is never necessary to be seen at Core Spring Diagnostics. Reach out to us directly, for any reason you have, and we will coordinate with your other providers only if you want that.
They share a lot of ground. Since executive function lies at the center of ADHD, the evaluation studies attention, planning, working memory, and self regulation carefully, and it screens for ADHD as well as the anxiety and learning differences that can resemble it.
It gauges the skills you draw on to plan, begin, organize, remember, and follow through, all measured on a baseline of cognitive and executive function and then tied back to what is happening in your daily life.
Yes, they can. We evaluate children, teens, and adults, and many adults reach out when the demands of career and family finally overtake the coping strategies they have relied on for years.
A plain language report and a feedback session offering practical, individualized recommendations, including structures, tools, accommodations where they help, and next steps built around how your brain actually works.
