Our evaluations are designed to identify underlying math related difficulties and understand how they impact academic performance and confidence. We take a detailed and individualized approach to ensure each person’s learning profile is clearly understood.
We ground every evaluation in a baseline of cognitive and executive function, then build in trauma focused and emotional measures suited to what you have been through. One licensed psychologist handles the entire process end to end, and we intentionally screen for the concerns that so often ride alongside complex trauma.
In children, our attention goes to how continued stress or hardship is landing on them, without hurrying toward a diagnosis. Just as much energy goes toward learning what soothes them and helps them feel secure, so we can build on those anchors.
Among teens, look for emotions that are hard to rein in, a self view that is unkind or unsteady, and difficulty letting anyone close. Behavior that seems oppositional often makes real sense once their history is understood rather than judged.
For adults, a persistent sense of not being enough, emotions that surge or shut down, and strain around trust and intimacy can all point here. Feeling unsafe with no obvious reason is common, and the aftermath threads through work, connection, and everyday functioning.
Things start with about an hour of conversation in which your psychologist builds a detailed personal history in a supportive, unpressured setting. Since complex trauma usually arises from repeated experiences, this discussion spans a broader timeline to trace how it has affected your emotional regulation, your relationships, and your sense of who you are. You lead the pace.
Your psychologist puts together a personalized battery aimed at surfacing the many layers complex trauma can leave. In person testing takes roughly 2 to 6 hours across one to two days. You head home with self report questionnaires, a person close to you may complete their own, and if indicators of ADHD, dissociation, anxiety, or depression emerge, those areas are screened too.
All of it, the scores, the observations, the questionnaire results, is consolidated into a detailed diagnostic report. Your psychologist assesses how complex trauma has shaped emotional regulation, identity, relationships, and cognitive functioning, and any co occurring conditions are documented in full for a complete picture.
Roughly two to three weeks on, you return for a feedback session. Your psychologist explains the diagnosis clearly and provides individualized recommendations, including specialized trauma therapy options, emotion regulation strategies, relationship support, and next steps tailored to your own path to healing.
