Why choose us
Why Choose Core Spring for Cognitive Evaluation?
Insight Beyond Just Numbers
We provide detailed cognitive profiles using trusted tools, helping you or your child better understand strengths, gaps, and growth areas.
Evaluation Process
Your evaluation begins with a one hour clinical interview where your psychologist gathers a complete personal history, from childhood experiences through your current daily life. Many adults seeking an autism evaluation have spent years wondering why certain things feel harder or different for them, and this conversation creates the foundation for identifying which assessments will be most revealing.
Your psychologist selects a personalized battery of cognitive and intellectual assessments. Testing involves 2 to 6 hours of in person evaluation over one to two days. Depending on the referral question, additional measures of executive function, processing speed, memory, or adaptive skills may be included. Questionnaires are also sent home to provide additional context.
All testing data, clinical observations, and questionnaire results are compiled into a detailed report covering intellectual abilities, cognitive strengths, processing patterns, and any areas of concern. If additional conditions surface during the evaluation (such as ADHD, anxiety, or learning differences), those findings are documented as well.
Approximately two to three weeks after testing, you return for a feedback session. Your psychologist walks through the results and provides individualized recommendations: educational planning guidance, strategies that leverage your cognitive strengths, accommodations if applicable, and next steps tailored to your goals.

Common Questions
FAQs About IQ & Cognitive Evaluation
Do I need a referral for an IQ and cognitive evaluation?
No. You never need a referral to be seen at Core Spring Diagnostics. You can reach out directly, for any reason, and we coordinate with your school or other providers only if you want us to.
Is an IQ test the same as a cognitive evaluation?
IQ is one part of a cognitive evaluation. We evaluate broader functions such as memory, attention, and reasoning to provide a complete cognitive profile.
Can a cognitive evaluation help identify a learning disability?
Yes. When combined with academic evaluation, cognitive evaluations can help identify learning disabilities and support school accommodations.
Can adults be evaluated?
Absolutely. Adults may seek evaluation to understand attention issues, cognitive changes, or for personal and professional clarity.
How long does the evaluation take?
Evaluation usually takes 2 to 4 hours depending on age and need. We also include a feedback session and written report within 2 to 3 weeks.
Can cognitive ability change over time?
Yes, especially in children and teens. Development, environment, and education can all influence cognitive growth and test results over time.
